Lihui Xu, Managing Director

Lihui Xu is the Funder and Managing Director of SGT Research. He leads the company’s overall operations, strategic business development and research management.

Lihui Xu has over 15 years of market research, supply chain management and electrical engineering experience focusing on the cleantech, renewable energy and electric power sectors. Prior to founding SGT Research, Lihui worked as an industry analyst for Pike Research with a focus on smart grid market in China. Previously, he held a position of senior supply chain management at Satcon Technology Corporation in Boston and Toronto. Lihui Xu was an electrical engineer at utility and system operator at the power grid operation center in China for nearly eight years. In this role, Lihui was responsible for maintaining the reliability of the power system, implementing procedures for normal, emergency and restoration conditions of the grid and managing electricity demand response program and deregulated electricity market. Lihui Xu holds a MEng in Entrepreneurship & Innovation from McMaster University and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from North China Electric Power University.

Jochen Alleyne, Managing Director

As Managing Director of SGT Research, Dr. Jochen Alleyne leads the operational aspects of the North American team which includes sales, marketing and customer relationship management. 

Dr. Alleyne has over 15 years experience in the embedded systems industry which consists of project management, research and product development. Prior to this position, Dr. Alleyne was the Vice-President of Research & Design at Identita Technologies Inc. Jochen Alleyne holds a Ph.D in signal processing from Florida Atlantic University and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo.

Lily Feng, Managing Partner

Lily Feng is Managing Partner of SGT Research leading consulting engagements and research reports, with responsibility for content management and customer relationships.

Lily Feng has over 10 years experience in industry research and consulting management. Prior to joining SGT Research, Lily was a senor manager at Semi China with focus on solar energy, semiconductor and LED Industry. Lily has developed strategic consulting projects of $250k revenue within half year, interviewed 500+ industry leaders & executives and published numerous industry analysis reports. She has in-depth experience with research analysis and strategic consulting to local governments and multinational companies. To help industry leaders updated the most recent market trends, Lily has gave public speeches at many local and international conferences, as well as led many technology and executive seminars and events. Lily Feng holds a master degree in U.K. and a bachelor degree in China.   

Beryl Cheng, Managing Partner

Beryl Cheng is Managing Partner of SGT Research with responsibility for business development, interfacing with clients at senior management and board level.

Beryl Cheng has over 15 years of experience in banking and financial Industry. Beryl has excellent analytical and communication skills with a strong preference given to financial operating experience. Her experience includes areas such as contracting and strategic integration, organizational structure and staffing levels. Prior to joining SGT Research, Beryl worked for Huthart & Co Ltd. as an executive since 2004. During the tenure, her main responsibility was to expand the company’s business scope including business development, investment facilitators in fund raising, direct investment and pre-IPO placement activities. Beryl also worked for JPM Chase, Deloitte and Hang Seng Bank in Hong Kong for 7 years. Through these valuable experiences, she has strong capability to establish a board range of network with financial professionals in the Industry. Beryl Cheng was born, grown and educated in Hong Kong.

Bin Zhang, Research Analyst

Bin Zhang is an industry analyst contributing to SGT Research’s Smart Grid practice, with focus on grid infrastructure development including smart dispatching technology, distribution automation and substation automation.

Bin Zhang has over 10 years working experience as an electrical engineer in a local utility in China, where he takes responsibility of maintaining power grid daily operation procedures and policies, securing stable operation of the grid to ensure safety & quality power supply and preparing grid operation schemes for new substation and generating station installation. Bin was also responsible for commissioning works of 220kv, 110kv, 35kv, 10kv transmission line and providing power flow solutions for executing grid annual maintenance plan. Bin Zhang holds BSc in Electrical Engineering from North China Electric Power University.

Haomin Fu, Research Analyst

Haomin Fu is a research analyst of SGT Research with a primary focus on energy storage, renewable energy and safety management of power generation.

Haomin Fu has over 9 years working experience in power industry and related industry segments. He has a background in government policy and safety management in power industry. Prior to his work with SGT Research, Haomin was an electrical engineer at Guodian Science and Technology Research Institute with responsibility for safety regulation and management of power generation. Previously, he worked at a power generation plant with focus on energy storage and power grid connection. Haomin Fu holds a MEng in Electrical Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Taiyuan University of Technology.

Jiehui Dong, Research Analyst

Jiehui Dong is a research analyst of SGT Research in supporting a variety of research projects related to power control, renewable energy and power engineering.

Before joining SGT Research, Jiehui was a research intern of technical support at EDF (Electricite de France) group in China for renewable energy projects, where she conducted technical analysis and industry reports regarding the Chinese renewable energy projects, Chinese technical regulations for integration of renewable energy generation and trends of Chinese renewable energy development. In this role, she also broadened supporting documents for EDF’s renewable energy development in China. Prior to that, Jiehui worked for Goldwind Science and Technology Co. Ltd., at graduation practice in the groups of project management, quality control and turbine assembling. Jiehui Dong holds MSc in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and BSc in Electrical Engineering from North China Electric Power University.
